Church management software in Ghana: how to compare your options

By ChurchLuma Editorial8 min read

A church management system affects weekly routines: how staff find member records, record attendance, prepare services, track giving and follow up with people. The useful comparison is not the longest feature list. It is whether the system supports the work your church needs to do, in the order your team does it.

Disclosure: ChurchLuma publishes this guide and is included in the comparison. We describe our own product from current in-app workflows and link to vendors’ public product pages for their descriptions. This is an editorial comparison, not an independent review or endorsement. Vendor pages and plans change, so confirm current details directly before deciding.

ChurchLuma combines member and visitor records, attendance by service session, service outlines, finance records, follow-ups, events, equipment tracking and SMS in a web workspace. Its public pricing page lists a Free plan and paid plans in GHS. Check the current plan limits and feature availability on the pricing page rather than relying on a copied price in an article.

Planning Center organizes its tools into separate products, with free access and usage-based paid plans shown on its pricing page. Its official product pages describe workflows such as volunteer scheduling, check-in stations, registrations and giving. It is worth evaluating if your church wants to choose separate tools for specific ministry workflows.

Tithely Church Management (formerly Breeze ChMS) describes a people database, giving, communication, events, check-in and service planning. Tithely also offers separate products and bundles. Compare the specific package your church would buy, and distinguish the monthly subscription from any giving transaction fees.

Asoriba describes web-based church administration alongside a member mobile app, communications, attendance, finance and branch management. Shepherd presents member management, attendance, finance and communications, including WhatsApp workflows. DaChurchMan and Msoft Church Manager describe broader operations suites. These are summaries of each vendor’s own materials; verify the exact features, regional availability, support and pricing with the vendor.

Use the same checklist for every product: Can you import and export your data? Can you record multiple service sessions separately? Can you limit staff access by role or branch? Do finance records cover both income and expenses, or only giving? Which messaging channels work for your members, and how are message costs calculated? What help is included during setup?

Then test a real weekly workflow with a small, safe sample: add a few people, set up a service and its sessions, record attendance, create one finance record, and assign a follow-up. Ask at least two staff members to try it on their own phones. A short trial run will reveal more than a feature checklist.

There is no universal winner. Choose the product that fits your church’s day-to-day work, budget, connectivity and support needs. Confirm current terms from the linked vendor pages, and ask for a demonstration of any workflow that is essential to your team.
